IN A HURRY?

Up

Kodaso opened his eyes to see that everything was upside again. He blinked a few times and then brushed the hair from his face. 'Guess I gotta get up now.' he thought as he laid upside down for a minute.

He finally sat up and stretched. Kodaso let out a yawn showing his fangs. His tan hair falling in his face again. He shook it back and stood up.

He made his way to his basket of apples. A smile grew on his face as he reached in. It soon faded when he didn't feel anything in there. He looked down and saw that it was empty. He looked sad for a moment.

"I really wanted an apple." he said sadly.

He shrugged and made his way outside. Many of the other kitsunes were out and doing there jobs. He heard giggling coming from behind him. He smiled, knowing who it was.

"Lord Youko, you have returned." He said with a small bow.

"Kodaso, you have no need to bow anymore. You are part of us now."

"I know but I cannot help it."

Youko smiled, "I know, young one." he said as he walked off with a girl on each arm.

Kodaso shook his head. "He will never change."

Kodaso made his way to the forest. He walked past many trees and smiled. His thoughts were filled with the first time he saw Youko.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~FLASHBACK~*~*~*~*~*~*

A little kitsune was running though a forest crying. He had been without food for days and didn't know where he was going. All he knew was that he wanted to get away. He tripped over a root and fell. He sat up, still crying.

A few other grown kitsunes were walking along and heard the little one crying. They came over and began to pick on him.

"Why are you crying, weakling?" " You aren't worthy enough to be called a kitsune." "You whine like a inu." were just some of the many things he heard.

He didn't look up to meet there mean glares. He just let the tears roll off his face and fall onto the dirt under him.

They continued to make fun of this little one. He sat there and looked at the ground as the pressed on. Some even throwing things at him.

"And just what do you think you are doing?" A deep voice came from behind the small group of bullies.

They froze looking up at there leader. "Nothing." they said in unison.

Their leader looked at them with warning in his amber eyes. "It seems that you would be the weaklings. Picking on a defenseless child when there is no need to."

They move out of his way and he moved so that he was over the child. He knelt down and looked at the little one. His tan hair matted and his body shaking from crying.

"Young one, why are you crying?"

The little one looked up, "Mommy." he said, with a tear streaked face.

His amber eyes looked in confusion at the little one. "I am not your mother."

"No, I miss her."

"Did you lose her?"

He nodded, "And she can't come back." His caramel eyes met the amber ones. Tears flowed down his cheeks.

The leader realized that this little one had lost his family and had no where to go. "I see."

Then the little one crawled into the leader's lap and rested his head on his shoulder. He little hands clenched his white clothes. He continued to cry.

"Lord Youko, are you taking this one in?" one of the kitsunes asked.

"It seems I have no choice." he said as he stood holding the young one.

The little one held on tight to Youko.

"Tell me, little one, what it your name?"

"Kodaso."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~FLASHBACK END~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kodaso smiled once again as he found his apple tree that Youko had made for him years ago. He reached up and took one. A smile on his face as ate it. He chuckled as he grabbed more and devoured them.

When he had his fill, he found a nice spot by his tree and lay down. He let the sun warm him as he laid there for his mid-morning nap. He thought about the first time Youko had given him an apple.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~FLASHBACK~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kodaso sat outside Youko's hut sniffling. His caramel eyes looking to the stars. Youko came outside and looked down at him.

"Kodaso, you should be asleep."

"I didn't have my apple today, mommy." he said in almost a trance.

Youko closed his eyes and made an apple in his hand. He reached out his hand to let Kodaso see the apple.

This brought the young one out of his trance. He took it and ate it. He smiled as he wiped his tears away.

Youko watched and then turned to go inside.

"Thank you, brother." Kodaso's small voice said.

Youko stopped and smiled. "Come to bed now, young one."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~END FLASHBACK~*~*~*~*~*~*

A few hours past and Kodaso awoke. He sat up and looked around. His tummy grumbled. He looked at his tree and went over to it. Again eating as many apples as he could. He then climbed the tree to reach more. He slipped on a branch and fell. He landed on his butt.

"Ow that hurt..." he said out loud. Then his attention was adverted to all the apples lying around. A laughed escaped as he picked up as many as he could and began to walk back to the village.

Once there, he walked through to get to his own hut. He held a smile as he walked along. Youko smirked as he saw Kodaso almost skip along. He shook his head fondly. 'Young one, one day you will be of great importance."

Kodaso walked into his hut and set the apples into the basket. He took one and placed in his mouth. His tummy starting to hurt. He rubbed it as he lay down. 'I think I had one to many apples.'
